135 m² apartment // 23rd floor //
Giv'atayim on the border of Tel Aviv
2023
Does the name of this project sound familiar to you? You're not seeing double – indeed, we have two apartments in the same building, but they are entirely different!
About two weeks after the first couple from the tower approached me, another couple who purchased a similar apartment on the 23rd floor reached out. Both are graphic designers by profession, parents of two sweet children, and have a dog.
Although the apartment has the same basic layout, it was purchased as a finished unit, meaning all the finishing materials, like tiles and faucets, were already installed. That was the stage where we began our journey.
In cases of contractor apartments, the process is slightly different—there is no possibility of making changes with external contractors or suppliers before the apartment is handed over to the customer. Therefore, when we had an estimated date for receiving the Form 4, we prepared to start renovations immediately afterward.
This couple, with exquisite taste and a background in graphic design, was very precise in their choices. We aimed to create a clean and minimalist design. In the kitchen, we started with a delicate concrete surface and matched it with the colour of the cabinets. All the appliances were chosen in shades of stainless steel and gray, including a minimalist light fixture designed by Guy Mashaly, the Israeli lighting designer. To add a touch of colour, we added blue String shelves next to the kitchen.
The standard floors were covered by resin, a unique polymer material that is also suitable for wet rooms. This allowed us to create visual continuity, even in the transition to the guest bathroom. In the living room, we designed a minimalist custom-made stainless steel sideboard, where objects from the couple's travels around the world and unique items imported personally are displayed. The sideboard stands out against a deep navy blue wall.Next to the round wooden dining table, a modular white bookshelf from String was placed. The uniqueness of the bookshelf lies in its minimalist connection to the floor and ceiling, and the ability to change the arrangement of the shelves over the years, allowing for a refresh of the look without replacing the bookshelf. The children's rooms were painted in neutral tones up to a height of 1.20 meters. Each child has a wardrobe combined with open shelves, suitable for toys and books, designed with current and future needs in mind. The master bedroom overlooks a mesmerizing view of Ayalon, suitable for all hours of the day. Similar to luxury hotel rooms, the entrance to the room is through a passage between two wardrobes, allowing for a logical and convenient division for two partners with distinct tastes. The bathroom is designed with a combination of large stone-textured tiles and thin rectangular tiles in two shades. The sink cabinet, with blackened veneer fronts, features a natural stone countertop with a wild texture that cannot be ignored.
